A few years ago, Win-Tech participated in a Lockheed Martin Ethics Supplier Mentoring Program.
One of the main takeaways from the program was helping Win-Tech to hone in on what it felt was most important.
Win-Tech employees helped to come up with the company’s 3 core values:
- Accuracy
- Accountability
- Respect
It is no surprise that Win-Tech employees felt that Accuracy was vital to its operations. In order to be accurate, employees must understand procedures and know how to read blueprints. They must follow directions and ask questions when something isn’t clear. With a Shop Efficiency goal of 98%+ (which translates to <2% scrap rate), Win-Tech employees understand how important it is to get it right the first time.
Win-Tech employees also felt Accountability was an important piece of the Win-Tech vision. As a small-business, many employees wear multiple hats and are responsibile for various operations along the way. Mistakes happen – it is not realistic to think we will all be perfect, 100% of the time. When a mistake is made, how does a person react? Do they take ownership and work hard to not make the same mistake again? Do they investigate how the mistake happened in the first place?
Win-Tech employees assigned Respect as the third value, no less important than the first two. It is important to treat others how you want to be treated and to communicate clearly.
Do you know someone at Win-Tech who represents one, two, or all three of these values?
Nominate a coworker today (or yourself!) – it’s anonymous!
Each month at a 3:15pm shop-wide meeting, an employee will be recognized for each category. We want to recognize those employees whose peers see their efforts.
Don’t want to fill this out online? Stop by any of the manager’s offices to talk to them, or write them a note and leave it in HR’s box on Allison’s door.
