Coronavirus FAQ

This page has been updated as of August 15, 2021

Win-Tech continues to require sick employees (including those with fevers) to stay home.

The government no longer offers EPSLA (paid time off), but Win-Tech employees may use PTO on short-notice while communicating with their manager and HR.

If you have questions related to COVID-19 and how Win-Tech is working to keep employees safe, please see Human Resources (Allison Giddens).

Below are resources to help you through the pandemic.

Please use the FAQ to help you navigate the answers you’re looking for.

How is Win-Tech handling the pandemic? Are they open?

Win-Tech remains open, as it has been deemed an essential business that supports the national defense and medical industries as a manufacturer.

Visitors (customers and vendors) are permitted to visit by appointment only and must sign in at the front lobby desk to attest they do not have COVID, symptoms of, or are running a fever.

I’m an employee and I don’t feel good. What do I do?

CALL your doctor or use a tele-doc phone app.  Your doctor will likely ask if you have a fever and then he or she will assess your symptoms.

If you have a fever (100.4 degrees F or higher), you are not permitted to come into Win-Tech. When you are fever-free for 24 hours (without add of a fever-reducing medicine), you are free to return to Win-Tech.

If you are covered under the Win-Tech Cigna Medical Plan, please visit their page here.

Anyone can receive a free COVID test.  Click here to find the sites in Cobb and Douglas Counties that have free tests available.

I know that EPSLA is no longer available.  Can I use PTO time?

Yes. All PTO time needs to be submitted via NetChex as you normally would. If you have problems, or need to make the request inside of 24 hours due to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID (or COVID exposure), please notify your manager.

I’m taking care of a sick family member. Can I take time off?

Yes, using PTO (or unpaid time off).  This variant is very contagious.  If you have been exposed to a family member who has COVID, we ask that you follow Cobb and Douglas Public Health precautions.

Please visit this page for guidance on time to quarantine (if you are non-vaccinated).

If you are vaccinated but have been exposed, we ask that you socially-distance and wash your hands frequently.

Do I have to get a vaccine?

No, Win-Tech does not require employees to be vaccinated.  We encourage you to talk to your doctor about your options.

If you are interested in getting vaccinated (for free), please visit this website for more information.

I’m nervous about coming to work. My family and I are very anxious. Can I take time off?

Everyone is understandably under a lot of stress. Win-Tech is doing everything in its power to sanitize and keep areas clean. We support the national defense and medical industries and have customer commitments to meet. We need you to help us to meet those requirements.

Check out this resource that lists free health and wellness items available to you.

Do I need to wear a mask at work?

No, you are not required to wear a mask at work. However, we are more than happy to give you a washable, cotton mask, or a disposable mask (while supplies are readily available).  Please see your manager or HR.

You are required, however, to take your temperature to verify that you do not have a fever before coming into work.  It must not be above 100.4 degrees F for you to come into work that day.

What if I feel like someone is in violation of these policies and rules?

You are free to report the concern to your manager or supervisor, or file an anonymous complaint with Human Resources by visiting this page. Use the password “kennesaw” if you are prompted.
